As a nurse and a person in recovery I understand how unaddressed mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, can sometimes lead to problematic substance use, as they did for me, resulting in significant personal losses. It was a difficult journey, but also one that ultimately led me to healing and a renewed sense of purpose.

It was from this challenging experience that I felt compelled to share my story and the lessons I learned. This led me to write “An Unlikely Addict,” in the hope that sharing my story might offer a sense of connection and understanding to others. But my dedication extends beyond the pages of a book; it drove me to become a nurse recovery coach, offering direct support and guidance to those navigating similar struggles. To further amplify the message of hope and healing, I’ve also launched the Healing Tapestry podcast, creating another platform to reach individuals who might feel alone in their struggles. It’s through these avenues that I strive to foster a community of understanding, reduce stigma, and champion the wellbeing of healthcare professionals.
